Default Guild Wars Religious Books

I think it would be a great idea to have GW write realigous books based on the gods. ie Book of Balthazar, Book of Grenth. And have just regular books in genral would be awsome.

I'd like to see some libraries and some sorts of extended collections of game lore.

Far better than begging for ArenaNet to do something, though, would be to write some yourself and try to propose it to them. Chances are, for legal reasons, they will not use your material. But if there is a significant community reaction to your proposal they may take note.

If you mean books for entertainment purposes, like those Star Trek technical manuals, that would be cool. But I wouldn't market them as actual religious books to be sold with the Holy Bible's and Holy Book of Quoran's. ;-)

My interpretation was he meant books in the form of in-game items that could be read and would contain some game flavor / lore.

The Original Poster did not clearly specify any sort of implementation, but theoretically these items could be represented as "books" in the game, but function as the plaques before statues of the gods, popping up a single window of text.

In a slightly more elaborate implementation, these windows could be given "Forward" or "Backward" areas to allow players to flip through multiple "pages" (or, windows).

Personally I would find it quite interesting if "books" were more than just static items in the gameworld but were rather inventory items that could be retrieved from a "bookshelf." Upon double clicking them a window would appear (similar to above with the page navigation). Touching the same bookcase again would restore the book to its original position, and leaving town would also restore the book to its rightful place.

LF Runner to Ascalon Library......

I would absolutely love this feature in game, or out of game.

Yep i support the idea of a ingame library for both lore and greater RPG feel.

I would love to have anything like this in the game which adds to the lore, gives a greater feeling of immersion.
I know somebody did suggest a library, which would be awesome(I mean we have an academy and a courthouse in ascalon), but it would also be cool to have books in inventories. Maybe have increasing levels of rarity, and maybe a way to store them in a bookshelf in a guild hall(others can read, but can't take home).
Brilliant idea.

But that's just my two cents

Although it's not neccesary since they do have snipets of the gods on their statues. But I think this would be interesting if we can read a tale aout the "gods".

That would be interesting. I admit it would be hard for me to settle down and read all that stuff. My mind is always on things like the progress of my titles and how many elite skills I have left to capture. Things like that. But if enough gamers would get into it, I say go for it.

A library would be cool. If it's an outpost, hey disable trading to get rid of the trade chat that always ends up in local chat anyways. Would be cool if there was an entire town like this to interact at. And not just sellers you walk up to talk to, but stores you can enter. And places with tables to sit at. Trade could be allowed in the main outdoor area but not in the indoor places like libraries.

i think some gods statues (definitely in tyria, i found one at jungle, near old mac, or which ever NPC who you need to talk to, to get to riverside province; an other one in pre sear, near ascalon city, statue of lyssa), has a tablet in front of it... it contains some interesting lore...

the meladu's one (in jungle) talked about some rebel standing against a warlord

lyssa's one (pre sear) talked about lyssa pretend to be an ugly, sick woman, only to be helped by a kind hearted girl, whilst others avoided her,

and there's a dwyana's one, forgot where, maybe in faction, talked about a doctor who saved a rich merchant... the merchant offers him money trice, and the doctor refused... lastly, the merchant revealed herself - dwyana, who says something like "it's a true doctor's spirit, who helps others without seeking a reward"...

very interesting to read

but yes back to OP, i TOTALLY agree to the idea... maybe we can start a book hunt as well, new title any one? - Lore Keeper

There are also all those bleached bones and remains lying around in the Crystal desert.
Had an interesting thought. What if a piece of parchment let you record info off a tablet, or from a spirit, etc., almost like a journal or logbook? Completion would go towards the Lore Keeper title.
That's just a thought though, I'd still rather love to find rare books, etc. Whether as offhands or actual volumes.

But that's just my two cents.
